Gregory Bracken

Bio: 

Dr. Ir. Gregory Bracken is Assistant Professor of Architecture at the Theory Section of the Architecture Department, TU Delft. From 2009 to 2015 he was a Research Fellow at the International Institute for Asian Studies and while there founded (with Dr. Manon Osseweijer) the Urban Knowledge Network Asia (UKNA) www.ukna.asia (which was funded by a 1.2 million grant from the European Union’s Marie Curie Actions). Dr. Bracken was also one of the founding editors of Footprint journal www.footprintjournal.org and some of his recent research has been concerned with the urban environment of East and Southeast Asia.

Apart from Asian Cities: Colonial to Global (Amsterdam University Press, 2015), some of his other recent publications include: Footprint 12, ‘Future Publics: Politics and Space in East Asia’s Cities’ (co-edited with Jonathan D. Solomon) (2013), The Shanghai Alleyway House: A Vanishing Urban Vernacular (Routledge, 2013 – translated into Chinese by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences in 2015), and Aspects of Urbanization in China: Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guangzhou (editor) (University of Amsterdam Press, 2012).
