Bio: 

Irina Yerofeyeva obtained her Bachelor degree from Ust’-Kamenogorsk State Teachers University in 1976, specialization: “history and education science”. She was junior, then senior and leading research associated at the Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakh SSR, between 1979 and 1991. From 1991 she worked at the Institute of History and Ethnology of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From December 2006 she was the Director of Kazakh Scientific and Research Institute on the Cultural Heritage of Nomads of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2014, she is leading researcher associated with the Kazakh Scientific and Research Institute of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. She obtained her Ph.D. in History, and is titular professor of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Kh. Ahmed Yasawi (Turkestan, Republic of Kazakhstan). She specializes on the history of Kazakhstan in XVII – beginning of XX centuries, cultural heritage of nomads of the Central Asia, and separate issues of the contemporary history of the region. She is the author of approximately 300 scientific works, including monographs, published in Kazakhstan and abroad.
