Jeremy Cheval

Bio: 

After working 5 years both in France and china in architecture and urban planning company as project manager or architect in chief, he started a Phd in 2011 both in the CAUP Tongji Under the direction of Dr Lu Yongyi and the architecture school of Paris Belleville as Chinese Scholariship Under the co-direction of Nathalie Lancret. His Phd research focus on lilong socio-spatial transformation and appropriation in the shared spaces beyond heritage and destruction.

He reached in Tongji university between 2007 to 2012 as invited lecturer for, bachelor basic training program, master design course, and he launched a new course for the first year students including 12 classes on lilong records through image. He also teached for 3 years design research, final study project, introduction to china culture at China Studio, école de design de Nantes Atlantique, in Shanghai University. Since march 2015 he is invited researcher for the UKNA program in SASS, Shanghai Academy of Social Science.

 

Co-director of the collection Map of discreet architecture for Moncherwatson editeur, he is co-author of two opus on « lilongs-shanghai » and one on « Shekhawati, Rajasthan, wells and steppwells ». He participated in different colloquium and lecture on his research, UCCA beijing "Alternative Cities", UNIFA Hangzhou, Grenoble urban institute , Montpellier architecture school.
