Artistic Interventions - Histories, Cartographies and Politics in Asia
The workshop of Artistic Interventions – Histories, Cartographies and Politics in Asia was successfully held in 30-31 March 2015 in Hong Kong Baptist University. The two-day event featured presentations given by over 20 speakers from around the world and across disciplines, including artists, researchers, art critics and curators, all working in the context of interrogating the history, cartography, politics and culture of Asia through artistic practices. The workshop sought to question prevailing categorizations of Asia as the institutionalized Other in Western humanities, and critically intervene the professionalized routines of knowledge production dominated by Eurocentric imaginaries, by offering trans-national and trans-cultural artistic impressions and trans-disciplinary alternative epistemic practices by which to approach time, space, community and history.
